My son and husband walked and wild camped across Dartmoor from our house on one side to Tavistock on the other ... my son was 7 years old!
They then did the 2 moors way, wild camping most of the way, when he was 9. It has shaped the extraordinary person he is today and the thought that other kids might not be able to benefit from these experiences because of one person’s whims is truly heartbreaking. I hope the High Court throws this out. Dan Pritchard CEO at Program Agency Sometimes I muse about brand, sometimes technology. Today it’s all about defending our rights. Unlike in Scotland, only 0.2% of England & Wales remains open for people to wild camp. That tiny slice of wilderness is Dartmoor. So I’m pleased to be part of protests outside the Royal Courts of Justice fighting to protect that right from a legal challenge by a landowner who bought 4,000 acres knowing that right. And pleased that the Guardian's Helena H. spoke to me about it. All of us - especially children - need the space to escape, adventure, wander and wonder - and to camp under the stars. That’s worth fighting for.

This #blackfriday2022 I will be avoiding purchasing anything at all. Instead, I shall be getting out into nature and committing to donating money on behalf of every new client to #mysquaremetre who will plant a square meter of wildflower meadow for every donation.
A couple of great site visits today including this very early Bible Christian Chapel in Cornwall that is in need of some repairs and maintenance, and potentially a sensitive new use - so long as the extraordinary lock, amongst other things, is retained!
I had a little helper with me today who enjoyed his day out. It’s been a pleasure to work with the clients and all the consultants on this project and I am delighted that it has gained consent. Well done everyone!
Avalon Planning & Heritage has secured approval for an additional storey to the Lincombe Keep, an early 1990s castle in Lincombe Drive, Torquay, which adjoins a Grade II Registered and Listed garden. At appeal the Inspector agreed that the proposal would not harm the amenity of the surrounding premises and otherwise complied with the requirements of Article 3(1) and Schedule 2, Part 1, Class AA, paragraph AA.2 of the GDPO. I always love visiting places like this, they are so evocative of times gone by. It will be good to see what future uses might be possible, particularly as it might not be heading for residential, which will make a nice change!
It’s great to get out of the home office once a week to share some space, conversation, great coffee and wonderful views! Loving my day at CoWorking Devon, can’t wait til the cosy fire goes on too!
Jack Dicker & Daniel Stone So this was a while ago, but I have today dropped these of at the Historic England Archive in Swindon where I am sure they will be looked after and provide a source of information for researchers for houses to come! Thanks @nicolacryer at the archive for your patience to edit.
Can you see it?
There was an old cottage, long gone, on this Grade II* farm that we are seeing whether we can resurrect for future use. I have advised the owners that this is more likely than a new build elsewhere on the site, but it’s still going to take some careful research and imagination to make it happen. Watch this space! It’s always good to hear about projects I’ve worked on gaining consent, especially when they have been complex!
Well done Vaughn Allington for getting this one through! As much as I love it, I always find Autumn a bit stressful as the shortening daylight hours makes it more difficult to get out during the week to do things that keep me balanced and I feel as though it is all work and no play.
That is why I made the decision last year to go to a #fourdayworkweek - it gives me back that balance. Although it’s sometimes difficult to switch off, especially when work is piling up, it allows breathing space that makes me more effective the rest of the week and I recommend it to anyone! |
